A workshop on good governance practices was held at the District Secretariat in Tezu as part of the ongoing Good Governance Week celebrations. This event provided a valuable platform for government officials, community leaders, and stakeholders to engage in discussions on strategies to enhance transparency, accountability, and efficiency in public service delivery.
Sajinglu Chai, Retired Joint Director of Health Services, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the pivotal role of good governance in driving national progress. She underscored key principles such as transparency, inclusiveness, responsiveness, and accountability, while sharing practical strategies for effectively resolving public grievances.
Three departments showcased innovative practices in public service delivery:
- Health: Presented community outreach initiatives aimed at improving healthcare accessibility.
- Education: Highlighted programs focused on elevating the quality of education at the grassroots level.
- Public Health Engineering: Demonstrated measures to ensure the reliable and efficient functioning of water supply systems.
Sotailum Bellai, EAC Tezu and in-charge Deputy Commissioner, highlighted the transformative potential of digital platforms in governance. He advocated for the adoption of platforms like CPGRAMS for effective grievance redressal and digital systems such as e-office to enhance administrative transparency and efficiency.
ZPM Tezu, Balong Tindiya, stressed the vital importance of inter-departmental collaboration in effectively addressing the needs of the community. He emphasized the need to cultivate a strong public service ethos among officials, urging them to prioritize citizen welfare in all their initiatives.
The workshop also explored the potential of public-private partnerships in improving infrastructure and services, particularly in remote areas. Participants actively shared feedback and discussed leveraging technology to ensure accessibility to essential services for underserved populations.
The workshop concluded with attendees reaffirming their commitment to implementing citizen-centric governance measures. Officials resolved to apply the discussed practices within their respective domains, aiming to enhance service delivery and promote the well-being of the community in the district.
