RGU Professor Appointed Vice-Chancellor of Alipurduar University

Professor Sarik K. Chaudhuri of Rajiv Gandhi University in Arunachal Pradesh has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Alipurduar University in West Bengal.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu expressed pride in this achievement, congratulating Professor Chaudhuri on his appointment via X. He stated, “This is a momentous occasion for Arunachal Pradesh and Rajiv Gandhi University as Professor Sarit K. Chaudhuri assumes the esteemed role of Vice-Chancellor at Alipurduar University, West Bengal.”

CM Khandu also acknowledged Professor Chaudhuri’s significant contributions to the “Unsung Heroes Project.” He added, “As a key contributor to this project, which has brought to light the forgotten patriots who shaped our nation’s history, Professor Chaudhuri has made remarkable contributions to both academia and society.”

A renowned scholar specializing in socio-cultural anthropology, Professor Chaudhuri previously headed the Department of Anthropology at RGU. He also served as the esteemed director of the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya in Bhopal.

He further enhanced his academic credentials with a prestigious post-doctoral fellowship at the esteemed School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London.
