Police in Arunachal Pradesh’s Namsai district apprehended a woman suspected of trafficking heroin in Kinghom Jona village.
The arrested individual was identified as Hemanti Limbu, who resides in Makum, Assam. Authorities confiscated 24.1 grams of suspected heroin from her possession.
On December 15, acting on credible intelligence, a police unit led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Tage Tallang, along with officers Ct. D.K Taye, L/Ct Roija Singpho, and driver Ct Linya Ado, under the oversight of the Namsai Superintendent of Police, swiftly responded to the information and arrived at the specified location.
Following established legal protocols, and in the presence of two independent witnesses, the team recovered two grey soap cases containing the 24.1 grams of suspected heroin.
This arrest follows a separate incident the previous week in Itanagar, where Arunachal Pradesh police arrested a man accused of repeatedly raping his 14-year-old domestic worker.
Police reported on December 13 that the suspect, a resident of Yupia-III village, had employed the young girl, who hailed from Assam, in September, shortly after his wife’s passing. He is alleged to have begun sexually abusing her soon after, according to authorities.
