A 22-year-old man sustained critical injuries following an attack by a wild elephant in Arunachal Pradesh on Monday afternoon, according to official sources.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 pm when Chukhu Obi, a resident of Dobam village within the Banderdewa circle, entered the forest to check on his Mithuns (semi-domesticated bovine animals). He was subsequently attacked by a tuskless male elephant, officials reported.
Following notification of the incident, a team headed by Kipa Hamak, the officer-in-charge of the Banderdewa police station, along with local villagers, immediately proceeded to the location.
The injured young man was successfully rescued from the forest and subsequently transported to the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) for urgent medical treatment.
Naharlagun Superintendent of Police (SP) Mihin Gambo issued a warning to the public, urging them to take necessary precautions when entering forested areas.
